The Cabinet approved a 972-million-baht project to train at least 32,000 Thai workers to design and install solar energy systems. The money comes from an emergency decree allowing the Ministry of Finance to borrow to address the energy crisis and support the energy transition. Training has two tracks: upskilling existing electricians, technicians and engineers in modern solar and battery storage systems, and reskilling career-changers from the basics. It covers rooftop, farm and floating solar plus battery storage. The government hopes to cut reliance on fossil fuels, move towards carbon neutrality, create well-paid green jobs, attract ESG-minded foreign investors and make Thailand a regional clean energy hub.
